Avery Dennison, Epson and SkinzWraps teamed up to wrap a million-dollar Bugatti Veyron, the world's fastest street-legal car, in a look as powerful as the car itself. The first-ever wrap of a Veyron was presented it at the Epson booth at SEMA in Las Vegas last month. The car and the wrap attracted a lot of attention at one of the largest conventions in the United States.
The Super Sport Veyron was wrapped with Avery Dennison’s best-in-class vehicle wrap material, MPI 1005 Supercast Easy Apply RS, which was printed on an Epson Stylus Pro GS6000 printer. SkinzWraps designed the graphics and installed the material on the car.
SEMA is the world's largest automotive specialty-equipment trade show. The automotive industry comes to SEMA to see new trends and the most tricked-out cars on earth. It was a rare opportunity for car enthusiasts to view such an extreme car wrapped with graphics. This is the first time a Bugatti Veyron has been wrapped in the U.S. The car retails for $1.7 million to $3.4 million depending on customization.
"Epson was extremely excited to work with Avery Dennison and SkinzWraps to unveil what's surely the most prestigious and high-priced automobile ever to be wrapped," said Reed Hecht, product manager, Epson America.
"Designing and applying a wrap to an automotive masterpiece like the Bugatti Veyron requires the ultimate degree of skill and concentration, the right materials and of course the best printing technology imaginable," said Peter Salaverry, CEO, SkinzWraps. "The Epson Stylus Pro GS6000 produces images with rich, vibrant colors, smooth tones, and deep blacks with amazing shadow details. Combine all of that with the amazing quality and durability of Avery Dennison's adhesive backed vinyl and you get a solution that's worthy of being featured on a Bugatti Veyron or any job that requires the best of the best."
Many car enthusiasts, restylers and customizers are using digital graphics and wraps to reflect their individual style. The beauty of a car wrap is that, if the customer gets tired of the wrap or graphic design, it can easily be removed and the paint on the car will look the same as the day the wrap was installed.
“Wrapping the Veyron, with its complex curves, showcases the conformability and printability of our newest product for vehicle wraps, Avery MPI 1005 Supercast Easy Apply RS,” said Todd Hain, Marketing Communications Manager for the Avery Dennison Graphics & Reflective Products Division.
The Avery MPI 1005 Supercast Series is a line of super conformable cast vinyl films. Supercast films are digitally printable and feature enhanced conformability and stay down over complex curves and rivets – a new option that is ideal for vehicle wraps.
The Veyron Super Sport version has a top speed of 431.072 km/h (267.856 mph). The car is named after French racing driver Pierre Veyron, who won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939 while racing for the original Bugatti company. It was named Car of the Decade (2000–2009) by the BBC television program Top Gear.
